Meet our Associated Reseachers

At the Circular Bioeconomy Alliance we work with an exceptional team of people, including a network of CBA Associated Researchers who support our vision and mission.

These scientists assist with, or advise on proposals for projects or programmes for the CBA, and we are very grateful for their input to help us deliver transformative impact on the ground.

Meet our colleagues, and explore their areas of research:

Rita Biasi

Rita is a professor at the Tuscia University in Viterbo, Italy and at the Sapienza University in Rome. She holds a degree in Agricultural Sciences and a PhD in Tree-Crop Agrosystems. Her research focuses on how traditional and modern agrosystems, mainly vineyards, can provide environmental, economic, social and cultural services to rural and urban communities, including through the promotion of collaboration between researchers and stakeholders. Her research activities aim to promote strategies for the conservation of agrobiodiversity, mitigation of land degradation risk and adaptation to climate change through more sustainable food systems.

Matilda van den Bosch

Matilda is a professor at the University of British Columbia, Canada, and a senior researcher at the European Forest Institute, Biocities Facility in Rome, Italy, and at the Barcelona Institute for Global Health, Spain. She has a background in medicine and holds a PhD in Landscape Planning and Public Health. Her interdisciplinary research is situated at the nexus of ecosystem health and human health, within the context of Planetary Health. She has worked as a consultant to, for example, the WHO, the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and the UN Environmental Programme (UNEP) on topics like urban green space indicators for public health and policy priorities for protecting health for both humans and the environment. Some of her ongoing studies analyse how nature-based therapies can improve resilience for both individuals and communities.
